What is this product?

Tortenguss is the German equivalent of a pourable fruit tart glaze, used to give fruit bakes a glossy red finish while holding the topping in place. Mix one 12g sachet with two level tablespoons of sugar, then gradually stir in 250ml of cold water or suitable fruit syrup until smooth. Bring it to the boil while stirring, briefly boil, then spoon it over the fruit immediately from the centre outwards. The glaze sets quickly, helps the fruit stay juicy, and suits tartlets, tarts and tray bakes. Three sachets per pack.
