German Christmas Shop

German Christmas in one place: Lebkuchen and Pfeffernüsse, Stollen, Spekulatius, Zimtsterne and Vanillekipferl, Dominosteine and marzipan, the Christmas treats that are hard to find in British shops. Each kind has its own section below, so you can go straight to the one you grew up with or try one you have only heard of.

The seasonal classics go on sale as soon as they reach our warehouse. Until then you can already pick stocking fillers and small gifts under £15. Everything ships from our UK warehouse, so there are no customs fees.

German Christmas Boxes

German Christmas hampers and gift boxes packed from this shop, each one a bunter Teller of Lebkuchen, marzipan and chocolate, in three sizes from Secret Santa to the family hamper.

German Christmas Gifts under £15

Small German gifts under £15 for colleagues, neighbours and Secret Santa. Each one is a full pack that only needs a card: Raffaello coconut and almond pralines, Yogurette with its yoghurt and strawberry filling, and Kinder Country cereal bars. Everything ships from our UK warehouse, so it arrives without customs fees.

German Stollen

Stollen is the Christmas loaf of Advent: a dense yeast bread made with butter and dried fruit, covered in icing sugar and cut into thin slices with coffee in the weeks before Christmas. We stock the Dresdner Christstollen from Dr. Quendt, which carries the protected PGI name of Dresden, and the mini Mohn Stollen from Bahlsen with a poppy seed filling.

German Lebkuchen

Lebkuchen is the soft spiced gingerbread of the German Christmas market, made with honey, nuts and spices such as cinnamon and clove. All of ours come from Weiss: chocolate covered hearts, stars and pretzels, Lebkuchen Herzen with an apricot filling in milk or dark chocolate, Oblaten Lebkuchen baked on a thin wafer, and glazed Pfeffernüsse.

German Spekulatius

Spekulatius is the thin, crisp spiced biscuit that Germans eat through Advent, stamped with a picture on the front. In the UK the same kind of biscuit is sold as speculoos. We stock two from Bahlsen: Gewürz Spekulatius, the spiced original, and Butter Spekulatius, which is milder and made with butter.

German Christmas Biscuits

These are the biscuits of the bunter Teller, the plate of Christmas baking set out in German homes through Advent. Zimtsterne are cinnamon stars made with ground nuts under a white glaze, Vanillekipferl are crumbly vanilla crescents, and the Bahlsen Zum Fest box puts several kinds together in one pack.

German Marzipan

Marzipan belongs to a German Christmas as much as Lebkuchen does. Ours comes from Zentis in Aachen. The Marzipan Brot is a bar of marzipan coated in dark chocolate. Marzipan Kartoffeln are small balls of marzipan rolled in cocoa so they look like tiny potatoes, a sweet that turns up on the Christmas plate and in the Nikolaus boot.

German Dominosteine

Dominosteine are small Christmas cubes built in layers: soft Lebkuchen at the bottom, fruit jelly in the middle and marzipan or persipan on top, all covered in chocolate. They were first made in Dresden and are now sold across Germany every Advent. Ours are the Domino Star from Kinkartz in Aachen, coated in dark chocolate.

German Stocking Fillers

German stocking fillers, most of them under £5: Milka and Ritter Sport bars, Haribo, Katjes and Hitschies sweets, Hanuta wafers and Kinder Riegel. In Germany children put a boot outside the door on the evening of 5 December and find it filled with sweets on Nikolaus morning. The same sweets work just as well in a British Christmas stocking.

German Christmas Shop — questions

What is Lebkuchen?

Lebkuchen is German gingerbread. It is softer and more spiced than a British gingerbread biscuit and is often baked on a thin wafer base, then glazed with sugar or coated in chocolate. The seasonal classics on this page arrive in autumn.

What is Stollen?

Stollen is a dense German Christmas loaf with dried fruit, often a marzipan core, and a thick coat of icing sugar. Dresden Stollen is the protected original. It keeps for weeks, so it can be ordered early and sliced through Advent.

What is a bunter Teller?

A bunter Teller is the mixed plate of Christmas treats that German families put out during Advent: Lebkuchen, Spekulatius, marzipan and chocolate together on one plate. The gift boxes on this page follow that idea.

Is the Christmas range shipped from the UK?

Yes. Everything on this page is stocked in our UK warehouse and travels domestically, so there are no customs or import fees and delivery takes the same time as the rest of the shop.
