What is this product?
Dresdner Christstollen is the German equivalent of a Christmas fruit loaf, a rich yeasted butter cake with sultanas and almonds that you slice thinly and serve with coffee on Advent afternoons. Dr. Quendt bakes it in Dresden under the protected Dresdner Stollen PGI, and the golden seal on the pack shows the Stollen passed the association's annual test. The sultanas are soaked in rum before they go into the dough, the baked Stollen passes through a shower of liquid butter and is then dusted with icing sugar. Cut it from the middle and push the two halves back together, so it stays moist until the next slice.
