What is this product?
Curry ketchup is the German equivalent of tomato ketchup with mild curry spice stirred through it, poured over chips, sausages and grilled meat. Hela's Delikat version is the mild one: warm and fragrant rather than hot, so it suits a child's plate and a Sunday fry-up equally. German kitchens keep it beside the ordinary ketchup rather than in place of it. Currywurst is the obvious use, but it also lifts wedges, burgers and cold cuts. At 800ml this is the size households here actually buy.

Expensive and short shelf life

Expensive for the sauce, as you can get it abroad for a couple of euros, but you're paying for the shipping and import duty for the most part.The sauce it's self is lovely, if not a tad watery. I don't know if I got a bad batch but only after a couple of weeks I found mould in the bottle even after keeping it in the fridge.

The only sauce to use on Bratwurst

Love this ketchup. Got used to it when living in Germany. It is absolutely the only thing to put on German sausages (Bratwurst) at BBQs etc. It tastes great. Comes in a big bottle at a good price. I'm so pleased I found it on here as I couldn't find it elsewhere.

Nostalgic for school days take out from the Schnelllie. Almost like it but memories and taste can change over time and it's been a long time! Value for money, tastes great and enjoyable with other food than bratties. Will buy again.

Lovely lovely lovely!Sadly it’s not sold on the UK and this sauce is addicting!The taste is nice, the quality of the texture is bang on and it’s a really bloody good sauce that goes well with chips and brockies (brochwursts)Sadly the price is a little expensive for a condiment but it’s lovely. If it was cheaper we would buy a lot more!

If you have ever stayed in Germany, and gone out for a Bratty and chips you will have tasted this. For me it was about 40 years ago, but the taste memories were still retained. So it's a bit of a spicy ketchup for those who have never tasted it, not too spicy though, well recommended and strangely difficult to get hold of in England.

No. We only ship products that keep at room temperature, so fresh sausages such as Bratwurst, cheese and quark are not in our range, and we do not stock soups at the moment. For a German sausage night we carry what goes with them: Hela currywurst sauce and curry ketchup, Born Thuringia Bratwurst mustard, Löwensenf and Händlmaier sweet mustard.
