What is this product?
Weiss Fidelis Oblaten-Lebkuchen are soft Nuremberg style gingerbread rounds baked on a thin wafer base, the German equivalent of a soft spiced nut cookie, perfect for serving with coffee or mulled wine in December. The recipe is rich in hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds and cashews, with candied orange peel, apricot purée, fig paste and cinnamon in a dough that stays moist for weeks. The 200 g pack is sorted two ways: half the rounds are covered in dark chocolate at 12 percent, the other half carry a thin sugar glaze. Oblaten-Lebkuchen were once baked in monasteries and the wafer keeps the soft dough from sticking. Store them dry and away from heat.
