About the history of Lambertz

The Aachener Printen- und Schokoladenfabrik Henry Lambertz GmbH & Co. KG traces its origins to a small bakery in Aachen in 1688. Over three centuries the business grew from that bakery into one of the oldest sweet goods manufacturers in Germany, still headquartered in Aachen.

Lambertz is best known for Aachener Printen, the firm spiced gingerbread that carries a protected geographical indication and may only be baked in and around Aachen. The range has grown to cover Nürnberger Lebkuchen, Dresdner Stollen, Dominosteine, pralines, nougat and everyday biscuits such as Vanille-Kipferl.

The group brings together several traditional German bakeries under one roof, including Weiss of Neu-Ulm (since 1994), Kinkartz of Aachen and Haeberlein-Metzger of Nuremberg (both since 1999) and Dr. Quendt of Dresden. Lambertz has been a partner of the Fairtrade cocoa programme since 2017.
