Haribo was founded on 13 December 1920 by Hans Riegel Sr. in Bonn, Germany. The brand name is an acronym of its creator's name and city: HAns RIegel BOnn. Starting from a single cauldron and a bicycle for deliveries, Hans Riegel built what would become the world's most recognisable gummy sweet brand.
