Ahoj-Brause has been fizzing since 1925, when Frigeo began producing sherbet powder in Swabia. The sailor logo and the cry of 'Ahoj!' made the little sachets an icon of German childhood — tipped onto tongues or stirred into instant lemonade for a century.

Production remains with Frigeo in Remshalden near Stuttgart, Germany's first and only dedicated sherbet-powder manufacturer. Since 2002 the brand has been part of the Katjes family, alongside Germany's best-loved sweets.

The classic four flavours — raspberry, orange, lemon and woodruff — are pure nostalgia for every German abroad, and a fizzy discovery for British kids trying Brause for the first time.
