What it is
Ovomaltine Extra Schoko is the Swiss chocolate malt drink powder, stirred into milk, in a 450g tub.
What it tastes like
Ovomaltine always lived in my head as a malty powder that tastes more wholesome than sweet. In truth it is just as sweet as many other cocoa powders. What sets it apart is the characterful, natural malt and caramel taste.
The catch
It carries a lot of sugar, which keeps it firmly in the treat category. The added vitamins do not change that.
Who it's for
If you love a malty, caramel note in your mug, this is a very good one. My personal pick on our shelf would still be Caotina Noir.
Would I recommend it?
